Finders Keepers – the Hunt has become a very popular event – loved by visitors and residents of all ages. The glass orbs, about the size of an orange, are made by Jeffrey Auxer out of Berlin, MD. For more info and Float Hunt Map.

The Smith Island Fishing Tournament, founded in 2022, celebrates the culture of this iconic Chesapeake Bay community. Proceeds benefit local non-profits and local improvement projects.

For nearly 140 years, worship, prayer, and praise band music are the highlights of this week long non-denominational celebration. Typically, during the first week of August. All are welcome.

This special evening is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Island’s heritage, enjoy delicious food, and support our cultural endeavors. Proceeds benefit the Smith Island Cultural Center and Museum.

Enjoy an evening of celebration and recognition of the watermen and their trade by feasting on the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay. The Tangier Sound Watermen’s Association Annual Dinner is typically held the first Saturday in November.
